Tyrgate: Norway's Olympic Ski Team Under Fire for Rune Sweater

Well, it was bound to happen. It happens every once in a blue moon and ironically it literally is a full Blue moon here on January 31st.  Every once in awhile, ignorance of unbelievable magnitude rears its head stemming from the core of Social Justice and I have to write things like this.

Last time, it was Othala Rune and this time It's Tiwaz.

The CBC, Canada's top media syndicates, ran an article about Norway's Olympic Ski Team being under fire for their official sweater portraying Tiwaz. The sweater's manufacturer Dale of Norway, really does need a pat on the back for not cucking on the issue.

The CBC article states that  Hilde Midthjell, Dale of Norway’s CEO, told the New York Times, she is frustrated and disappointed over the situation and has “vowed to face down any attempts by white supremacists to co-opt symbols that belonged to a shared Norwegian heritage.”

“Neo-Nazis have marched with Norwegian flags,” she said. “That does not mean we stop using that, does it?”

Her comment alludes to National Socialist and White Nationalist movements like Nordfront that often marches in various locations of Europe with a strong Anti Immigration message. They call for the deportation of anyone that is not of Northern European descent back to their home countries. The sentiment stems strongly from the recent years of European nations like Sweden and Germany bringing in mass swarms of refugees from Africa, Syria and other Middle Eastern nations.

This is Nordfront. I have no idea who actually owns this image.

Guess who also uses Tiwaz?  Guess who isn't a National Socialist Movement?

So what is Tiwaz and Tyr anyhow?

"Honor, justice, leadership and authority. Analysis, rationality. Knowing where one's true strengths lie. Willingness to self-sacrifice. Victory and success in any competition or in legal matters. Tiwaz Reversed or Merkstave: One's energy and creative flow are blocked. Mental paralysis, over-analysis, over-sacrifice, injustice, imbalance. Strife, war, conflict, failure in competition. Dwindling passion, difficulties in communication, and possibly separation." ( Source: Sunnyway Runes)

Tyr is the God of Honor and Sacrifice. He sacrificed his oath hand to Fenrir for the greater good of all.   Read our Article about Tyr  HERE

I don't like this SJW knee jerk reaction stuff that's going on in our society lately.  We have had TV shows like "Vikings" out for awhile, books, podcasts, movies and other forms of media out there that portray the runes. There is so much information out there regarding their ancient meanings. There is absolutely no reason for this sort of uproar after so much literature has been released over the past three years alone. Continue to have open dialogues with people about our faith and our symbols. We can only continue to educate folks.

The sad part of all of this is that the CBC article states that the ski team is not going to wear their sweater at the Olympics.
